H-REAP AP failover

Assumptions

  • We have 2 or more wlc,e.g. 4404 in one or more localizations.
  • Wlan id(for SSID) are the same on all of the controllers. It is very important when we want to map wlans to local vlans. If this requirement is not met after moving ap to secondary controller or fallback from secondary to primary our vlans mapping will be lost. .
  • All settings for(SSID) are done,we will focus only on failover.
  • H-reap mode for particular SSID is enabled.

  • 1.Change AP mode to H-REAP.

  • 2.Enable mapping wlans to Vlans(H-REAP sheet).

  • 3.Map local vlan to wlan id(SSID), e.g. vlan 20 to SSID with id 2.

  • 4.Set failover for access-point.

We can set up to three controllers for ap failover.
