IPS SSP  - Password Recovery

 

Password recovery in IPS SSP module is very easy.

 

  • from ASA applicance CLI issue command

 

ASA5585-X# hw-module module 1 password-reset

Reset the password on module 1? [confirm]

Password-Reset issued for module 1.

 

 

  • Wait a little bit until you login again. If you are too fast you will see error like below:

 

Opening command session with module 1.
Module 1 did not respond to session request.

  • Login again to IPS module and set new password (default username is cisco, default password is cisco)

ASA5585-X# session 1
Opening command session with module 1.
Connected to module 1. Escape character sequence is 'CTRL-^X'.


login: cisco
Password:cisco
You are required to change your password immediately (password aged)
Changing password for cisco.
(current) password:
New password:
Retype new password:
